New collages and pins

well i have been hard at work trying to promote my art. i have picked up 3 shops and 2 families for private lessons. i have also wrote a curriculum for 2 classes at the local art center and i will be in an art hop in october, so i have been busy making art and writing classes.

here are some of my newest collages. i have also been working on stretched canvas and have 3 collages complete on that substrate too. i think i like the stretched canvas better just because i am not sure i like the wire. i have heard both sides of the story though, some like the wire others don't. what do you think, wire or no wire?

  • Glad to see you back blogging, Kelly.

  • Hi Kelly- I just got your info from Alyson Stanfield's site. We both posted comments with our "signature lines."

I love your work! My opinion is that it looks better without the wire. It seems more like fine art that way--like you would see in a higher end gallery. And you could always leave the work without the wire & let the customer know they can add it if they want it.

  • HI Shannon, i have to agree with you, i was thinking the same thing. i am actually thinking of making some frames for them or adding a wood frame like a shadow box around them. then i can add small items to the shelf part too. i also have some new collages in the works on wood but i am still playing with those.

    thanks for the comments!

  • Hi I saw your idea for a journal swap on swap-bot and followed your link here... I really like your work and am always inspired by people who actually execute all the wonderful and creative things they think of (because I am a procrastinator).

And as for wire or no wire... follow your heart. Are you really doing art for other's approval or because you need the self-expression? That said, you asked for an opinion and I like the art better without the wire.
